Call for Paper

Research in Formal Concept Analysis (FCA) is growing both at the theoretical and practical settings, and this theory has been successfully used and even extended in many disciplines such as mathematics, computer science (CS), bioinformatics, engineering, sociology, and so on. In CS, studies are concentrated on numerous topics like data analysis, knowledge representation and discovery, software engineering, information retrieval, social network analysis, etc.

This workshop seeks to bring together researchers who are using FCA for real-life applications, and are interested to share their experience and exchange ideas with FCA community members. It aims at getting an overview of the diversity of applications of FCA on real data, and providing a forum to discuss the strengths, limitations and challenges of using FCA, as well as the successful and unsuccessful experiences with this analysis. Feedback from application domain experts is also welcome.

The contributions to the workshop should present the data and their characteristics and may include but are not limited to the following features:

  • Problem modeling
  • Data preprocessing
  • Complex data type management
  • Very large data analysis
  • Application domains.

Preliminary work submissions are welcome. However, they should provide interesting conclusions on the use of FCA in real applications.

We invite researchers to submit a short paper of 5-6 pages and follow the typesetting guidelines of ICFCA paper submissions. Manuscripts should be submitted via EasyChair system at https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=realdatafca2021, and accepted workshop papers will be published in the Supplementary Proceedings of the conference under the CEUR-WS Proceedings.

Each accepted paper must be presented during the workshop, and hence, at least one author per paper has to register timely.

We plan to invite the authors of accepted papers to submit an extended version for publication in a journal.
